Church History

Written and presented in an easy-to-understand and engaging style, the Know Your History series will provide believers of all education levels with a clear appreciation and sense of how the lives of early believers helped shape the church today. The study of history is not merely the learning of ancient facts and dates. It is the learning of oneself. It is the learning of what has made us what we are, who we are, and why we believe what we do. Learning the past is really the exciting adventure of learning what the present is all about. To this end and purpose, these courses were written.

The Know Your History series is based on the writings of renowned church history scholar, Dr. Bill R. Austin. Dr. Austin taught at Hardin-Simmons University and served as Chaplain at Baylor University. He published fifteen books in several languages, including Austin’s Topical History of Christianity. Although he had many interests, his greatest calling was to the pulpit. He was converted and baptized at the age of nine, surrendered to the ministry at age twelve and was preaching youth revivals throughout west Texas by the time he was fifteen. He pastored several churches in Texas during his life-long ministry.
